How To Clean A Medium Alice Pack

I piece of work at a recycling centre and yesterday a medium ALICE pack came in and I brought it home. The frame was trashed and the waistbelt is questionable. The shoulder straps and pack itself are in decent condition.
Any ideas on giving information technology a really thorough cleaning since it's been through a garbage truck? Nylon type pack.

I would start with a bristle brush and some dish soap.

If you tin wash it in a tub with a mild detergent, then rinse. Set out in the sun to dry out. Does it olfactory property?

Back in my Marine Corps days we'd use a scuzz castor and some laundry soap and rinse rinse rinse rinse. Nosotros never pulled them out of bonafide garbage though. My old man was a garbage man and that is some of the worst smelling crap on the planet. Not quite diapers, not quite puke, and all wretch. Non sure how he and his young man garbage men can do it. Makes me gag.

Luckily recyclables smell a tad better than garbage(unless somebody mixes garbage in with the recycling. One town we embrace sells trash bags for $6ea, including pickup, but recycling's complimentary, people sneak a lot of trash in that recycling).
The worst aroma I've always smelled was a skunk that went through the cardboard baler. The stench was well-nigh unbearable a quarter mile abroad, while nosotros stored the bale outside, hoping the rain would launder the smell away. Then later on about a week, something ate the skunk at night...
I will say my job might be a touch smellier than your fathers, as I not only have to option up and dump the trash, but also have to did through it and sort it all out. Luckily I take only a semi-functional sense oif smell.

Soak in soapy water, scrub with brush, air dry out.

When I was in the Army, during training, there were iv of united states of america who had our ownroutine. Obviously your kit is going to exist inspected then it has to be really make clean.
Firstly hose it down and scrub off the worst $.25. Remove the frame and so go to a launderette. Chuck the rucksack, webbing and uniform in the big industrial washing machines they have and put it through a wash wheel with detergent. While that was happening nosotros would get to the curry business firm side by side door. Eat curry, beverage cold lager so caput dorsum to military camp!
Because where you lot found it and what it is one proper wash bicycle is probably what'due south needed and isn't going to exercise information technology whatsoever more than harm.

I would take information technology to a laundromat and apply ane of the large washing machines on it.

Laundromat is another decent choice.
If there are stubborn stains, a can of coke emptied into the washer will help immensely

Got a couple pictures tonight. It's supposed to rain tonight/tomorrow then I'm going to exit it out to go an initial rain bathroom.
Ended up cutting the frame to go the belt off. The buckle? in the belt was crushed onto the belt as well so I had to cut it besides. The cam buckle things are screwed. Both were aptitude and the roller in one was taped in. The other roller is missing.
